    HEXUS.reviews :: GALAXY GeForce 6600 256MB

    I expect GeForce 6600 performance to look even stronger when evaluated via shader-heavy titles and thus have little problem in recommending it as a GPU, especially if you're looking towards upgrading to PCI-Express motherboards imminently.

    y go for 6600? a 6800le will still perform better? and it may be cheaper at launch?

    y do ppl go for new options when some slighlty older hardware will do the job better? < sometimes!

    At the end of the day, if we waited for the better/cheaper option to come out, we'd always be waiting! I see your point though.

    lol want meant to be harsh or anything, heres a direct link to gainwards product page! some ppl have had varying success with modding it with riva tuner to unlock other pipelines so it goes gt etc!

    but not all mod, and new heatsink and fan wud be needed!

    MuddyFox - there is very little reason to be rude.

    I will speak to NVIDIA about these SKUs to find out exactly there plans.

    I know that 6800LE was originally an OEM part.

    The 6800LE is a crippled card. If you buy one don't expect anything close to the GT or Ultra.

    Yeah, but typically they softmod to at least 6800 spec, and several have softmodded completely.

    It seems to be a pretty mixed bag, if opening up the extra pipes on the 6800 is anything to go by. Opening up the extra pipes isn't problem, whether its by hardware or using the beta RT - its the major artefacting that you get when they've opened up. Can't say that it was entirely successful with the Asus and Leadtek cards I've got. Having said that, the LE and 6800 are probably very similar hardware wise, than a 6800 compared to a GT/Ultra, so LE>6800 probably has a far greater likelihood of working than an LE>GT/Ultra or 6800>GT/Ultra.
