Re: Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080

    http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

    1920 x 1080 36.81% +0.39%
    1920 x 1200 1.35% -0.02%
    2560 x 1080 0.31% +0.01%
    2560 x 1440 1.53% +0.02%
    Other which i assume is 3840 x 2160 1.96% +0.23%

    http://www.ebuyer.com/749835-asus-ge...080-o8g-gaming

So GTX 1080 £659.99 or if true AMD Rx480 for less than £200 and supposedly GTX 980 Performance

Think its fair to say that at 1920 x 1080 and 36.81% of steam market players play at this res then its a huge win for AMD. Got my money this time deffo.

Re: Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080

Until I see actual reviews for the RX480 any assumptions of how it performs are irrelevant. But the fact is a 1070 (nevermind 1080) is total overkill for 1920x1080 and only makes sense at 2560x1440

Re: Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080

I agree that's why i said if true. But even at 2560x1440 thats still only 1.53% of all steam players.

But our readers are not typically indicative of the Steam findings.

    I game at 2,560x1,440.

Re: Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080

But at over 125 million active users it gives you a very good idea for any company the intended and still current market users

I currently game at 1920 x 1080 myself and currently holding out until zen arrival before my next build, but thats not the point. My maths point to AMD potentially offering a cracking deal for a card upto 2560x1440 for a cost of less than £200.

Why would anyone not want cheaper costs to game to be the case as in reality most people are going to 2560x1440 as the next logical step. A quick look on Ebuyer shows 33 monitors @ 2560x1440 at getting close to 1920x1080 prices compared to 3840x2160 prices that on average spec wise double the price.

Every PC i have built for gaming has always been about my intended resolution, and for me its looking very likely AMD will hit both them resolutions at an affordable price.

Before ploughing cash into one of these I would avoid Asus based on customer support if anything does go wrong.

I still game at 1920x1080, but I am still getting this card due to I need an upgrade from my Geforce 690 GTX, first worthy card upgrade in years, if they make a Geforce 1090 at some point, I have to get that one to get to the next true level for odd personal goals.

Re: Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080

The fan headers are a good feature, but otherwise it's expensive, ugly (so many gamer cards are styled to appeal to children) and I don't care for the pointless lighting. I currently game at 1920 x 1080, and while wouldn't mind having headroom for a future monitor upgrade, I can't justify the cost when in a few years everything will be cheaper/better and it's time again to upgrade the GPU...

Disgusting prices, really. It's just blatant price gauging by Nvidia.

Can't lie and say I don't want one though but just not at the prices being touted around.

Re: Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080

These 1080 cards are going to be left high and dry once the Ti appears, they're going to be in the no mans land of pricing between the 1070 and Ti. Too expensive for potential 1070 owners to consider and too expensive for potential Ti owners to bother with.

Those fan headers are genius. So simple yet, assuming proper manual/automatic control, could be so effective. Why not just add it into AI Suite though? AI Suite is already brilliant and adding another element and removing redundant ones (such as no ASUS motherboard) would enable complete control over each fan in your system.

Until we see actual reviews you have no idea how the RX480 will game at 2560x1440. We know from the reviews that the 1070 is butter smooth at that resolution on virtually all games and if you turn down some of the graphics options playable for many games at 4K.

Of course if the reviews do show that the RX480 is smooth at 2560x1440 we can expect to see a large 1070 price cut.

Either way, holding off buying a GPU until the reviews are out seems the only logical way to go

Well seeing as the RX 470 is said to be aimed toward the average PC gamer, the one that wants to play games at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second with no fuss. As told on stage by su herself then it would be fair to say Rx 480 is aimed at 2560x1440 leaks at moment put it at Gtx980 level all for £200 or less. Ill have some of that please
