Yeah the light was very friendly to us at times, in fact the whole event was really good well done to those involved it certainly helps raise the profile of Eastbourne as not just a crummy sea side town for those too old to travel to some place good.

It's a vortices, as the cloud is lacking before it.
Let's start remember what a cloud is, it's tiny, really tiny little bits of water suspended in air. When air cools, clouds can form, the measure of dew point, the point at which below clouds form, is important.
We were lucky, we were only one or two degrees above the dew point, some clouds formed during the day, some dissipated soon after forming. We were very lucky to have an airshow in this condition!
As the air hits the wing, it's compressed. If you hit tiny little balls of air, they will bunch up, after moving over the wing, they get the chance to expand. This expansion will result in a cooling. This cooling is now enough for the cloud to form, the vortices allow enough moisture so that you can see the trail, the key is having only a one or two degree ambient temp above the dew point. This is why so many of our photos have that lovely little trail.
I can try and elaborate more, but it's really rather neat, clouds form when temp drops. If you smash something into air, it squishes up against the front, but expands once it's passed over. Compress a gas, it gets hot, let it expand, it cools. Clouds form when things cool.

Yeah,I got lucky with the framing for the Spitfire.
I think the matching 1.4X TC will be helpful with the 300MM IMHO.
