Welcome Soldiers.
Many of you will want to use CoD4 to run a Benchamrk, expecially if you're about to get or borrow a new video card.
Here's how to make your own custom Benchmark/Timedemo and how to run it.
Make sure you can open the console within the game (it's an option in the menu)
Join a multiplayer game, preferably one you like and know.
1) Press ~ to open console.
2) type this /record MYDEMO-150409
you can change MYDEMO-150409 to whatever you want.
so I used /record ZAK33FIRSTGO
(don't use spaces in the name)
Play for several minutes.. the size of the file shows "in game" so dont be shy. I played for 3 minutes, and its my style of game play, so relevent to ME.
Leave the server and the recording will finish automatically.
The demo is then created in a file that is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
It's in Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\demos
Copy demos folders into
Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\Mods\ModWarfare\demos
you gotta trust me on this
Then boot game, choose MODS, and then the game with reload as Mod Warfare, and then
bring down console with ` key
and type timdemo thenameofyourdemo
You'll find it tried to autocomplete it for you. Carry on typing, hit return when done.
The time demo will run
When finished (it's gonna be a long demo, done as fast as possible by your PC) press SHIFT and the ` key together for the extended console and scroll right down to bottom of text file, and look for FPS
And that's your average FPS
Now change card or settings and do it again.
