Sausages arent too bad, although slow cooked then split and browned in the middle is best.

Steak & lightly marinated chicken is probably your best bet. To be honest, we never use ours, no better than a pan, and too much of a bugger to clean.

It's good for plain chicken breasts (drizzled with a bit of olive oil) and sliced red peppers. That's about all I cook on it nowadays.

Re: damn you george, damn you...

i was using Sainsbury's own Potato and Leek ones.
Our Foreman doesn't really have a variable heat system, so its only on or off. Is that the same for all Foreman grills?
Anyway, I put the sausages in whilst my potatos were on the hob (bangers and mash night)
Left the sausages on for perhaps slightly longer than they should have been, but when I removed them from the grill, it was almost as if ALL the fat had drained out. It was as if the centre of the sausage had just dried out, and was all chewy, but not moist, if you see what I mean.
I dont usually use it, as I prefer the grill, but I thought I'd give it a try. Perhaps I could experiment with different brands of sausage, rather than the potato and leek ones.
I did bacon in it the other day too, boy did that turn out bad!

Re: damn you george, damn you...

I've tried a few there is a "saugsage" shop in bath with all different flavours, and the only ones that have ever gone wrong where some beef and guness ones and thats because I made the cuts in the sausages a bit too big (I think). I've used tons fromt here and generic sainsburys/waitrose pork/beef

I've done bacon in it many times too and it always (again bar one mess up) turns out pefect, and thats from rare to a well done lover.

totally different experience to yours, and like you mine is either on or off.

My Mum bought me mine and the ammount of cooking I do on it, it's amazing how well things turn out, constantly.

Re: damn you george, damn you...

I bought a Foreman grill and got rid of it after a week. Doesn't get hot enough to get a decent crust on a steak and removes all the juices from anything else I cooked on it. Some people love them. Not me.

yes if you leave certain food unattended it can drain the juice out of it.

Some things, you just slap in and leave, others require consistant attention.

Re: damn you george, damn you...

i think i might try the constant attention approach, until i can get my sausages perfect
i may just have left them slightly too long and drained too much juice out of them! How do you do your bacon, do you leave it and do other things or keep an eye on it?

put it on - close the lid (preheated) for say a minute then flip it for a minute or two constantly, done, to a charm

I use mine to make cheese toasties! Nice they are as well. You don't have to butter the outside like a toastie machine so they aren't as greasy.
