    Chinese sugar?

    Hello. Ibought something today called "Chinese sugar". I am already familiar with Yellow Lump sugar and Brown Candy. This is different; it is a crystalline white sugar and came coarsely ground. I just tried some. It tastes very sweet but ALSO shockingly bitter, and has a VERY long and rather unpleasant aftertaste. Can anyone tell me anything at all about this bizarre stuff?
