I have to say though, I watched "Escape To River Cottage" the other day, and Hugh Fernley-Whatsit sent his two piggies to saughter, having fed them and cared for them for however many months it was. He even gave them names!
Much as I love bacon, I couldn't have done that I don't think! Not when you know their personalities etc The worst part was when he cooked the head... he must have recongised it's face!!!
Well you get used to it. They taste nicer than commercial pork anyway. Free range/organic is the best . Although our pigs dont get given names they usually end up with nicknames like "floppy ears" etc.

Saying that this year one of them was an absolute bitch . So we were quite happy to eat her in the end .

Crocodile is nice - it does taste like chicken
However I agree about kangaroo - i'd have a regular steak over kangaroo anyday

I have never had horse meat but would have absolutely no problem with it, we are so close genetically to a dolphin that I would have problems with that, although this is also true of the pig so that should be ruled out too in fairness, suppose it is just what you are brought up with.
I did have camel as a kid in Saudi Arabia but dont really remember what it was like.
