Truth is, IMO, the first one was an absolute barnstormer, the second was not quite as good and it slowly went down from there, shame, cos the first two were just cringeworthy but so addictive....

I'm guessing... apart from our resident master that you're either referring to Ken Hom or Rick Stein....Originally Posted by Zak33

As to Chefs, my favourite is Rick Stein as I have been to his restaurant 4 times and being a fish eating vege (Demi-Vege) most of his dishes I can eat (or adapt). Also like the simple approach.
Only "beef" I have with him was when he was spouting on about getting kids interested in good food and how bad "Britain" is with this. So, you try and book a table in his restaurant saying you are bringing a 2 year old .

The Man with the Silver Spot
Everyone moans about Ramsay and the fact that he shouts screams and swears and makes people feel small.
But from what I have seen (and this is only of this TV show) he is furious, but fair. If your useless, he will come down on you like a ton of bricks and make you aware of it. However if you show promise, he will nercher your talent and build you into something worth while. That is IMHO the mark of a great leader, great manager and that is why he is where he is.
And your forgetting that they asked him in, and in the end they were the beter for it because the ones I saw, instead of ending up closing down they went from strength to strength. Is that worth getting shouted at? Yes i would say.

Yeah, the guy is bolshie, but you HAVE to be like that to get anywhere. Chef's are full of pride and all have a touch of 'prima donna' in them. No one likes their food being criticised, just remember how Gordon went off on one when that guy had a go at his Ceasar Salad?
To get people to change you either show them, which he did, or, when they don't repsond, you let them know in no uncertain terms who the top dog is. THEN things improve.
That exec chef at Moore Place was another classic blagger, no interest and no passion. An exec should be inpiring his team, leading from the front and working very closely with the head chef to get the food developing and bringing people in. That guy he had in there couldn't give a monkey's about the place... I bet they were paying him a fair bit too.
no...you dont see what I mean.....he's BORING....hes not very good...
I wish they'd do a Motor trade one.....the language there might make Mr Ramsay look like a Monk
no ..what I mean is he's just so stuck up himself.....he's not really worth of a second show...but he got one
However....I'd love to the see the same show with a certain Irish chef cos I am sure he'd be better.

Anyone going to watch him in 'Hell's Kitchen' Sunday 9pm ITV?
Sounds c**p but you never know.

I guess maybe Paul Rankin.
However, Ramsay isn't stuck up himself, not by a long way. Marco Pierre White... there was a guy who was up himself on his on (deserved) success. Ramsay has proved himself and his always gonna be on the high ground BECAUSE he's a success. Nothing I've seen in any of the shows goes against simple decent business sense.
The formula is the same each show... find out what the staff's abilities are, find out where the money is going to waste, find out what people want to eat and why they aren't coming and then act upon all those findings.... job done.
Any good chef and business manager should know their customers or who they want to target. None of the people I've seen on this show did that.
