try tapping the bottom of the hook with a block of wood otherwise the whole things going to end up going back for someone else to do that

normally i just turn anti clockwise and it lifts itself ?

I'll try a sharp tap with a piece of wood . Obviously this has happened to you before. Can't understand how this happened all that is involved is pushing it up to release the lugs. There's a nut about 10 mm just to the right of the attachment but don't know what it's function is. Anyway i'll try the wood trick.

My hook got stuck as well, it was because I hadn't adjusted it before using it....if you cannot get it out, try moving the nut on the hook with the spanner......

Re: Kenwood Chef: to do or not to do

Thanks for the advice you two guys, You were both correct. GoNzo - the 'tap with wooden block ' did not work and shaithis I could not get a decent angle on the nut but managed to grab the neck with a pairs of 'grips' and giving it a sharp twist the hook came out. Tried to insert it again but could not as nut was too far up. Upon releasing nut a wee bit it poped in and out no bother. It said in the instructions that the dough hook nut did not need adjusting as this was done at the factory. It must have moved whilst mixing bread dough. Anyway thanks again you two.

Re: Kenwood Chef: to do or not to do

    update:

rang Kenwood, "my rubber foot's fell off"
and one came straight in the post

    so.. happy boy.

Have made pastry twice in it now, once in the food processor on thetop using the blade (astonishingly good pastry but messy to clean AND the lid was NOT a tight fit and flour was spewed every where...)

and once in the stainless bowl, with the K mixer which took longer but was just as good.

Now.. this food processor that goes on the top... it's NOT got proper seals.

Can anyone who's got the clear plastic food processor, please fit their lid on and see if it's got silly small holes round the top that let things come out when whizzing.. cos mine has!

this thing... it leaks around the top when the lid is fitted properly. Maybe its not meant to be a tight fit but with flour in, and on a slow speed it spewed flour out of all the holes....

Don't have the processor with mine but try poping a 'teatowel' around top as that should solve your problem.

hardly the point... though it IS what I did.. its described as being good for pastry, which it IS.. but it made a proper mess.....and I don't expect it to leak.

Re: Kenwood Chef: to do or not to do

I've never put flour in the food processor part but I haven't had an issue with anything else I've tried - I've used the cutting discs, etc without issue and the 'normal' food processor blades for all sorts without problems... mostly solid food and liquids, not flour / dry mixes which I've always done in the main bowl and not had issues with unless I was either pouring in flour while the beater was already going (fast) or I forgot to close the little flip up part before turning it on to fast mode.

All these problems do not sound good. Is it the general consensus that they are not as good as they used to be? Wouldn't want to spend £300+ on a product that fails at first use.

Re: Kenwood Chef: to do or not to do

    Hi,
Can someone please help. I have been googling this for days and can't find the answer. I have just bought a Kenwood Chef A701A. I would like to buy a stainless steel mixing bowl for it. Does anyone know if 17551 or 18749 is the correct one. As far as I can make out the latter will fit but there is only one available on ebay. There are more 17551 available which would be more preferable as they will probably sell for less.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

    Sharon

Give the customer services number a call, they answer pretty quick not an off shore call centre and they will give you the exact part numbers and details of what fits what in seconds.

    V good question.

For me the top mounted food processor isn't the be all and end all of hardware.

BUT... the Chef itself is simply astonishing. I love it.. only this morning I awoke (my lie in today) to the gentle hum of it in the kitchen and my lad and my wife laughing and making cake... today was Lemon Drizzle.. and the Chef does it with skill and style.

So.. I still rate the machine as top top investment.. but the top plastic food processor doesn't have a super tight lid and I don't like it. The rest.. is divine.
