Big chef takes on little chef

    http://www.channel4.com/food/on-tv/h...n-little-chef/

    Quality viewing!

The CEO of Little chef is a complete knob jockey and wants the moon on a stick!

Heston is not immpressed with him and I think he might swing for him in tonight's episode
    (C4 9pm)

Re: Big chef takes on little chef

I watched this last night, found it very interesting. Certainly a few years back the little chef I went in was awful. As Heston put it I'd rather buy a pre packed sandwich!

I can't help but think with menu revision mark 1 Heston missed the point a bit about things ...

An elobarate menu for a cheap motorway service station? What planet is he on

As for the management not giving him any idea of what figures he needs to work with is plain stupid.

I look forward to the 2nd and 3rd parts and hopefully see a big change taking place.

I dont think Heston is the right person for the job, gordon ramsey would have been a
better choice but then it would have been just like kitchen nightmares.

I dont either, which is clearly WHY the producer chose him. It's good TV.

And it IS, good good tv. I liked it a lot, and though I did my fair share of shouting abuse at the MD of Little Thief, equally, Heston is a complete dreamer too.

What was NEEDED wouldnt have made good TV. What was needed was someone with attitude aplenty, but with diplomacy, and with good cookery skills.

And lets face it... Nick already works for US

Re: Big chef takes on little chef

Yup at the end of the day, they've got a problem.

The current clientel of little chef are taste budless, almost certainly northern types who are probably very scared of change, unless the Daily Mail tells them otherwise obviously.

As such how do you push a new exciting menu on them? They won't eat it!

Which actually leads me onto a pet hate of mine. Fussy eaters who drag the group down. I'm a damned fussy eater, but i never empose my views on others, ie i don't really like oysters, but yet i wouldn't say "no we can't go to an oyster bar for x" because its just damn shelfish, but plenty of the people who go to little chef are just that. They are looking for a stop on their journey, they want fast familiar food.

All little chef need to do to stop their decline is reduce their menu and greatly improve the quality of their food. I don't know how much of their properties they own, but if they do then their overheads shouldn't be *that* high. They should simply look at the proper greasy spoons/pie n mash places and emulate them.

Anything else will alienate the fussy eaters, and all too often, if a group of 10 has just 1 rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish in it, lowest common denominator rule. And yes tonight its nando's rather than that south american place that does lobster for the same price as the fricken chicken, and yes, i'm pissed off about it!

no matter how hard I try mate, when I read that I hoot with laughter. I'm sorry, and I didn't have to bring it up, but it's an absolute corker

That boss has started to remind me of David Brent/ Michael Scott from either office you choose to watch.

Re: Big chef takes on little chef

Was an interesting episode last night, the CEO though has no idea at all. Things can't get worse by trialling a new menu in a few more resturants then just the one. I'm very surprised Heston didnt walk after the slap round the face that was the new menu including some of his suggestions on it! His persistence for a fried breakfast without beans was a little odd I thought, it goes hand in hand with it.

Spot on. I had to keep reminding myself this was real and not a comedy.

If that toolbag boss says "Blue sky thinking" one more time I'm going to drive to Popham and boil him in a bag.
