It did cross my mind, and I've come across oak-smoked, beech-smoked, etc, and even a home-brew kit using tea-leaves to smoke your own bacon. But .... tyres?
Je ne sais quoi, indeed.
Mind you, for an outdoors type bloke, maybe it was a survivalist trick on a Bear Gryls episode I didn't see ... which was most of 'em. My idea of "outdoors" is poolside in at least a 5-star hotel.
Still, tyres? My mind is boggled.
i didn't know it was in Kitchen.... didnt see that bit
besides... I tenderise steaks with all season tyres... and if you don't...you need to take a long hard look in the mirror, young man, and ask yourself.... "should I be tenderising steaks with tyres?"

Kinda guessed that. But when you lead with your nose, it'd be rude not to tweak it.
However .... I guess I'm going to be tiptoeing around the forums for a while, maybe several years, with the same care as a gazelle trying to walk through a pride of sleeping but hungry lions.
Kinda hoping you've never heard of the adage "Payback's a bitch".
Errr, ummm ..... oops.
Bother.
I usually buy a lot of stuff in bulk from Costco (pepsi max etc), usually cheaper than the supermarket offers anyway.
Buy and keep everything
I buy so much dried food in bulk when its on sale that I look at the enormous pile and freak out that it will surely go out of date before I can munch it all. I bought 10KG of hemp seed a while back and it turned out to be 25KG that they sent me! I thought it looked a little large when the post man was dragging it up the stairs but only noticed months later that there was no way it could have been 10KG. Still eating them now actually nearly 2 years later
Love a good deal as long as it's not fakes.
Just ordered a year's supply of shaving gear online. Part of it half price. An area where worthwhile discounts are possible.
It does focus the mind somewhat, when the monthly salary cheque stops coming in. Retirement in my case.
Absolutely! If I like something and i'm going to buy it anyway, of course I'd rather save a few pennies where I can. The main issue is finding the space to store it!
I wouldn't say I proper bulk buy things, mainly as I don't have space to keep 6 months worth of stuff. But I do tend to buy certain things only when they are on offer. Normally I get enough to cover us until the next time it is offer, rinse and repeat. When I run out before the next offer period and it is something I have regularly then it does burn. Some things though I only buy on offer and would never pay full price, I am looking at you Tropicana.
Since I first replied in this thread, we've begun using the nearby Costco. While you have to be careful to check the prices on certain things, because they're often not much cheaper or sometimes even more expensive than the supermarkets, particular things can work out to an enormous saving.
We bulk buy Pepsi Max at £7 for 8x 2L bottles, Cushelle triple-ply toilet paper at £14 for 45 rolls (you should've seen us at the start of the pandemic, having just stocked up on 15x 9 packs) and Monster Ultra at £6.50 for 12 cans. We also pick up other bits and pieces but those staple pieces save us a considerable amount of cash per year.
We've got a couple of racking shelves set up that we use for general storage so we can stock up and only need to make 3 or 4 big trips per year.
We've also found their fresh chicken to be great value when buying for the dog's diet. We buy a few KG at a time and freeze it, defrosting as we need.
Agreed on Costco, Hoonigan - it does pay to be a bit careful. But there's a lot that is cheaper than most places, most of the time. We've slowly come to be more trustful of even their own-brand foodstuffs, too, and we were very sceptical at first. Their fresh meats tend to be pretty decent, too. A friend is a chef and he put us on to trying them. Mind you, we still buy where we can from our small, local butcher. Hhevis very, very good.
Agreed on Cushelle, too. We stock up about once a year on that kind of stuff.
As for Pepsi .... well, I read an escapist book series recently called the Kurtherian Gambit n which, long story short, a terminally ill girl undergoes a scientific 'experiment' involving genetic modifications and embeddding a hugely powerful self-aware AI in her brain. She ends up a kinda Galactic Empress. And, the point? She's a Coke girl, and regards Pepsi as a devil's brew. She considers actually banning it, galaxy-wide. While that might be a smidge of an over-reaction, I'm on her side in the Coke v Pepsi debate.
Oh, and we also have storage racks in the garage, but about 6 of 'em, each 4 shelves deep. Add it up and it is a serious saving.
A lesson learned from PeterB about dignity in adversity, so Peter, In Memorium, "Onwards and Upwards".
Yes, I definitely do. Especially things like pasta or tomato sauce. It’s always good to have something at home in case of a food emergency
I don't really stock up, I only buy mostly twice of what I need if there is a bargain.
