    Chicken Soup !

Well my other half appears to have come down with the dreaded lurgy ( hopefully not bird flu )

I had a charitable moment and decided to make the classic dish of Jewish granmothers worldwide... Chicken soup

all credit goes to the site I found the recepie from

    http://www.goodadvicepress.com/soup.htm

I now have a bucket of the finest aforementioned soup - dunno about my other hlaf , but I'm feeling better already !

(even if it did take almost 5 hours to make , the result was worth it ! )

Ay Veh! None of this Matzeh Ball nonsense.

My last effort at chicken soup went like this:

1 chicken carcass left over from sunday roast.

Shove it in a large pan and rip it up enough than it fits relatively flatly. Cover in boiling water and simmer for half an hour, then take off the heat and let it cool.

Then, once it's cool enough to manually handle, pull the chicken out and pull all the meat off the bones. Chuck the bones away (eat the marrow if you must- chef's treat) and return all the meat to the stock. Add finely chopped carrots, onions, potatoes and soaked 'broth mix' (which is pearl barley and lentils basically) and return to the hob for an hour. Season and serve for a delicious chunky soup.

I still have a serving of this in the freezer. Damn tempted TBH.

I didnt make the Matzo Balls , but as I used a whole chicken with meat - it made for a very meaty soup

fresh dill and parsely added a good flavour too , as did a sweet potato and a few bits o'garlic

Argh, something else to get me off my ass to start cooking again. The idea of some home made chicken soup is making my mouth water...
