Re: If your thinking of buying a Mesh Computer. Do yourself a favour DON’T.

I had a computer from Mesh that cost ~£1,600 about 4 years ago. It was always loud but it eventually got to the point where it would sound like a cement mixer. After looking in the case and looking at various forums it became clear that the chipset fan was a known issue on this particular mobo and normally had to be replaced after a year or so. I contacted Mesh and asked them for a replacement fan. I was first told that because the mobo would have to be taken out to replace the fan (to access the retaining clips at the back of the board) I would have to send the whole computer back to Mesh. Was never going to do that and after much hassling they agreed to send me a fan that I could fit myself which was great except it never arrived. Emailed a few times but this was never resolved.

Would keep the fan going by topping it up with sewing machine oil but eventually (a couple of months outside the Mesh warranty) the mobo packed up. Decided I could do a better job than Mesh at building a computer and a few hours of research and £500 later I had a machine that runs quietly and fast and for no more than 1/2 the cost of a similar system from someone like Mesh.

Build your own! It's fun and saves you money!

Re: If your thinking of buying a Mesh Computer. Do yourself a favour DON’T.

Brought my first Mesh about 6 years ago. Brilliant. Great customer services, quick delivery, no probs with desktop.

Decided i was due an upgrade and had a look around. Decided to go with mesh Matrix II for £750 because the price and the service i had received before.....BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!

Ordered on 16th jan. was supposed to take 10-14 working days. It finally got dispatched on the 16th feb. Had e-mail saying this and your could click a link to track order, unfortunately you couldn't track order till 12 hrs after dispatch. Because of this had not expected it to turn up the next day when it did. Had to make a 1 hr 15 min journey to pick it up.

Excitedly got it home and unpacked it straight away. A couple of things i noticed then:-

    1. said the comp came with a 52 in 1 card reader (internal).........IT DID NOT!!!!!!!!!
    2. 10 usb ports (4 back panel, 6 mid-board)- not computer savvy so thought this meant that it actually came with 10 usb ports.....WRONG!!!!!!!!

the main thing though was the fact that it had obviously been dropped on the corner at the main place as all packaging was undamaged.

Called them to let them know...they told me i had to take pics and e-mail them back. Did that and had a call next day to arrange pick up. The pick up could be between 9 and 6pm so i had to wait around all day on a fri to arrive.

Mon came and i called them to make sure that they had received it. spoke to a very nice man who explained what was happening (it was beeing repaired and i'd be getting a whole new system). Was supposed to take max of 3 working days and they would give me a call to arrange delivery.

Well it came to today and still hadn't heard anything so gave them a call where someone told me that it was still waiting to be repaired. Asked for them to phone me back as i had spent 20 min on phone already. No call, so called again at 17:00 and asked for someone to call me. They told me i would definitely be getting a call today. WRONG AGAIN!!!!!!!

spoke to someone at about 19:00 who told me that i had to speak to customer services who finished at 17:30. They are now supposed to be calling me before 09:30 tomorrow morning.

    Not holding my breath here...............

So, go with what the title says.......DONT BUY A MESH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: If your thinking of buying a Mesh Computer. Do yourself a favour DON’T.

Ordered my Mesh PC on 5th February and it has not arrived so I called Mesh this morning. I am told that they have no Iiyama monitors in stock and this is the reason for the delay. Delivery should now be sometime next week.
I have checked the Mesh Owners Club forum and there is a thread on there that describes the order and delivery process. Basically you get an email to say your order has been processed, this is then followed by another email when the system is tested and built to say it is being dispatched. It seems that my PC is somewhere between these emails and as such nobody informed of the delay leaving it to me to call Mesh. Big flaw in your processes Mesh.
Having read the threads on this forum I am a concerned that Mesh could be in trouble. Is this a case of Mesh's suppliers not providing them with stock? Do I cancel the order or not?

Sorry to hear of your problems. I (well, my brother) has had a Mesh PC for the last 3 years and a few things have gone wrong, but they've always been prompt to replace parts free and even send a technician out.

    I think you've had a bad experience.

They are decent, I recommend if you cant get things done you should head off to their forums where normally they are very helpful.

Re: If your thinking of buying a Mesh Computer. Do yourself a favour DON’T.

Computer Shopper July 09 recommends the Nero 9850HD for £499. Now called a 9950HD, you can upgrade it to 8GB DDR and a Phenom II 955 and almost no end of other components.

I'm tempted but the only reason I'd upgrade is because I can cheaply and it might be useful in the future, but I'm not sure if I really need it all. I wish that the need for improved PSU and cables options were better indicated and explained.

Quad core seems the way to go & at least 4GM RAM - why not get as much power/speed as poss in a PC when you buy it?
