    Adverts at the cinema

I've just seen Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix the showing started at 09:45 but the film did not start until 10:12. Thats nearly 30 mins of adverts its bad enough to be forced to watch trailers on a DVD but at least you may want to buy the DVD the trailer shows.

Come on who wants to watch 30 mins of adverts before a film
When they come on TV there is at most 5 mins.

I love trailers...hate cinema adverts, but at least in the big mutliplexes they're tv quality adverts, no worse than having to watch adverts on tv....a lot better than the 'Jon's Balti House' or 'Chang's Dry Cleaning' stills with music adverts I had to put up with at the local ABC as a kid...

But I could quite happily sit through 30 mins of trailers. After all, I go to quicktime a couple of times a month and get stuck into all the latest trailers for at least an hour.

I love the trailers and I hate the ads. I am quite happy to go into the cinema 10 mins after stated time for the movie. This usually avoids most of the ads, and gets me straight to the trailers. But due to varying travel arrangements and time constraints such precise scheduling might not always be possible - in which case I will be tortured by such ads.

Love the trailers but hate the adverts. Last thing we went to see was Shrek 3 with the kids. You were talking 20 mins of mainly car adverts, new Peugot was the worst offender with a different variation of that red monster thing every other ad. Got tedious after a while.

When you consider the price of kids and adult tickets now the TV type ads should be kept to a bare minimum.

That's true, although I always find that for the kiddy films there are a lot less adverts, with some U films going almost directly to the main feature.

Completely agree. We saw the same film with the same darned Peugeot ads. I mentioned it to the mouth breather on the door when we left but they just "ughed" at me.

Yeah the adverts really do take too much time. I paid to see the movie, not watch advertisements to entice me to spend more of my cash of which I already see enough of at home. I don't mind other movie trailers, but often they throw in irrelevant adverts, cars and mobile phone network companies being the main offenders.

I usually get there 20 mins late, in time to watch the last trailer or two...

but its a bad idea if its the last showing of the night, since they start to close and you cant get tickets

What cinema were you at? I went to my local Warner Village, it started ten minutes late and had 30 minutes of commercials and then 5 minutes of trailers.

It was even more annoying that i was at the late night showing and ended up missing the last bus by 15 minutes.

My local cinema here in Merritt Island has it right. The adverts play before showime, local businesses with video ads, normally pretty good. In fact, my flight school has one! The at 'start time' the trailers start.
