Is it just me, or has this just turned into 1Xtra over the last few weeks in the style of music that is constantly on?

Yup exactly. It'll be the big known bands no doubt, that already have plenty of radio play.

Radio 1 used to be a really nice mix of music. If you didn't like the track that was on, chances are the next one wouldn't be too bad.

I am so fed up of Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal, they did it with Lady Gaga last month. I don't even listen to it all that much, it just seems to be on everywhere I go!

i'm some in my 30's now and wouldn't listen to anything else.... music is a generation thing, a time line if you like. when you hear a tune from the past you know exactly what year it was and what you were doing at the time! and that's really only down the radio 1 and the way it's play list works.

Couldn't have timed this thread better really. After the brief download part (which really wasn't that good ) They now have an 'urban hour' where you can request tunes with an 'urban flavour'.

i only get to listen to radio 1 occasionally at work as my boss loves 5 live.

i found the music is a bit 1 xtra.

the main thing i have noticed is that as i get older my dj tastes change. used to like moyles but now find him mildly annoying, was never huugely keen on jo whiley but now i try to listen to her as often as possible, like the music she plays and quite enjoy live lounge too.

I tend to just record the drum and bass show when Fabio hosts it. Not too keen on Grooveriders selections.

Moyles and Co, Edith, Scott Mills, Vernon (on the rare occacions that he is on), and the rest of the weekend DJ's seem to have decent, varied taste. It was great to hear Fern and Reggie giving their actual opinions on a dire remix of Saltwater and Hoppipola on Sunday Usually, the playlist department make them pimp all the crap 1xtra blud!!! yo!!! type music
