    Cheapest ethernet over power please?

Need help trying to find an ethernet over power device (well - 2, as i want to connect an ethernet media player to my current router).
Am currently doing it wirelessly, but am about to upgrade the wireless encryption from WEP to WPA, which this media player doesnt use. Plus i get odd jumps currently anyway over wireless, so am keen to change to wired.

Cheapest I can find is this pair from Maplin for 70 quid.

Had a brief look around scan and dabs, without a great deal of success....
Speed is not a big priority as it only needs to stream DIVX stuff so a few mbps is plenty - dont need 85 or anything.

    Thanks for any information.

You don't want the cheapest, believe me. Although in theory all HomePlugs are made to the same standard, they are not all the same. I tested several, and the best by far were from Develo IMHO.

I have 4 Develo DLAN 200 AVdesk units that have replaced wireless connections in my 3 daughters rooms and they are very good - so far - only had them 3 weeks, but they are 12 - 18 times faster than the wireless connections they replaced. Pricy though!

Your link to Maplin is actually for a pair of Develo's - BUT they appear to be the slow "14Mb" spec - and you don't want to spend 70 Quid on those! Spend an extra £15 or so and get the 85Mb "HighSpeed" version - in practice you will probably only see half the 'rated' speed at best. They are cheaper from DSL Warehouse http://www.dsl-warehouse.co.uk/Categ...FSRPEAodFg80Sg - which is where I got mine - and I got excellent service. I got the top speed 200's and am getting 110 - 120 Mbs actual performance.

I'd love to agree with you guys, and appreciate the response, but you've doubled my original budget which is already a little too much!!!
You might be very tech-literate but you'd be terrible accountants.

I might, possibly, consider the 85MBps, but i really only need to reliably transmit about 1 (single) megabit per sec or thereabouts, in one direction only (xvid videos).

Cheers anyway, think i'll wait for prices to drop.

I know ebay might not be the way you want to go, but you could get a pair of 14mb quite cheap.
