so i get the welcome pack delivered today, with line activation on monday. thumbing through the pages i see lots of warnings like

We know you are excited, but please do not install it before your installation date, it won't work.

do i listen? DO I HELL. and as you can see, while i was expecting another weekend without the internets they (or BT, but hey) have got it going early, which means:

1. i was expecting to be able to order it from the 31st on this exchange. but it was available on the 19th when i checked.

2. i was expecting a minimum of 10 days to go through the motions of getting it working. but i ordered on 19th and they said it would be ready by the 26th

3. i tried to get it working on the 23rd and it was all systems go!

after having been at the recieving end of the mess that was Fast24 (hahaha) a few years ago im shocked just how quick this has been

Know what you mean mate, bt said the same thing to me so i plugged in the router about a week early and hey presto, it was working, dam farts wanted me to wait another week! could have possibly had two weeks free

ill open this thread up to peoples better than expected experiences from ISP's. as for every - theres a + and all they hippy stuff.

No, they just keep sending me letters about using too much bandwidth on a package that when I got it, was unlimited. (they quickly changed the T&Cs though...)

When i went to SKY they told me to wait for the 'letter' to say i was connected.

The ROuter arrived but no letter.

Ahhh well!!! Nothing ventured.

Connected everything up and hey presto........14.6mb connection
That was nearly 3 weeks ago and i still havent received the letter.

Apparently, they could tell i had already connected and decided not to send the letter out as there was no point

It's very common for adsl to be activated ahead of the due date as this date is infact a worst case senario date.

Don't install before the activation date.... big fat no on that one.

Installed and set up 2 days before the activation date, happily chugging along with a relatively slow 8.9Mb a second. Still good for 900Kb a second downloads. Upload speeds are the full 1.3Mb though which again is good for a fair speed

syncing at 18000 or so k's, just run a 11000k on adslguide, still messing with tcp settings and got my D-Link router to try tho so we shall see.

the most interesting thing there as far as im concerned is the ping. that was closer to 150 when i was with demon (at an adress further from the exchange but hey)

I'm five minutes away from my exchange on Be and getting the below results

When I joined adsl24 they gave me an activation date a week later. My modem was plugged into the socket anyways and imagine my surprise when I come home the next day and the internet light is on. I booted it up and connected less than 24 hours later to the internet!

Little unahppy with Be* at the moment. Performance to many US locations is just terrible, YouTube is particually bad.
