    line stats

    here are my line stats at present,

    ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
    Connection Speed 7616 kbps 448 kbps
    Line Attenuation 14.0 db 7.0 db
    Noise Margin 10.4 db 24.0 db

    are they good? in future will i be able to get a much faster line?

    Going by the graph here:
    http://www.exetel.com.au/pdf/downstream.pdf (PDF warning)

    You should be able to get about 15Mbps with ADSL2+ if it is available in your area. That graph doesn't take into account your noise margin or attenuation, it is only based on distance from the exchange.

    Going by the 7.6Mbps you get currently, you are about 0.5KM from the exchange.

    samknows says that i am 600m as the crow flies.

    and...

    im currently on ADSLMAX at the moment, not ADSL.

    Same technology though

    ADSL Max is just a BT marketing name for their rate adaptive implimentaion of ADSL.

    i think that my exchange is getting LLU in January 2008...

    i should get about 15mb from someone like bethere then?

    In theory yes

    Bear in mind that you can only sign up for teh ISP that actually does the unbundling to take advantage of ADSL2+.

    Be Unlimited is worth waiting for. They are giving top customer serice at the moment.
