    Network issues with win98/win2000

    I have finally got my 3 computer nework running

    But for some reason my computer that has Win 2000 requeires a password before it lets another computer on the network access its shared files... when i try to access the win2000 computer with another computer that has xp on it, i get prompt for username and a pass word...... i enter the username and password tht i use to logg onto the win200 machine and i get in....

    But when the computer with Windows 98 tried to access the computer with windows 2000, it doesnt prompt me for a user name.. only a password. I have know idea what the password is because everthing that i tried has failed.

    I'd tried using the same password that worked with the computer that has xp on it... but that password doesnt work.. In fact no password works.

    I have all the shared options on the win2000 set to allow everybody, network and anonymous.. i also have full access given to everyone for the permission levels.

    Anyone have a clue why my computer with 98 wont access the computer that has 2000. hell, why does Win2000 require a password/username?

    My computer that has xp allows another computer to access it without a password promt... the win98 computer allows other computer to access it without a password/username prompt.

    Anyone have any suggestions ??

    It is a good idea to do the following:

    Check the username that the 98 machine uses to log on with.
    Create this username on the 2k/XP computers and give them the same password.
    Set up permissions on the 2k/XP machines appropriately.

    This should help you out.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    By defualt win98 or ME uses the guest account to log on to a 2k or XP manchine, go into users and enable the guest account and set a pass word, 98 manchines will now be able to access with the guest password.

    ok, both options seemed to work.. i had to set a common user name for all computers.. also guest accounts were not enabled.
