    I'm not sure I follow here... you say that Sky charge you £40 for the router? so they have their money out of you for that, what difference does it make to them that justifies them cutting you off?

    This is sky we're talking about - i'd be impressed if they managed to catch anyone tbh (ignoring the fact sky would always rather keep you as a customer regardless). Modding sky+ boxes is against the grain so to speak but Sky know about it and don't do anything (more) to stop it - so long as the revenue keeps on piling in (i have direct experience).

    Still, it's all a bit 'meh' really - and only an issue once your netgear gets flakey for most.

    The router is free afaik.

    you pay an installation fee but then most ISP`s charge that nowadays
