Re: Virgin Media Upgrading 4mb customers to 10mb

i always get my advertised speeds, give or take 100kb/s, 2mb i got 2mb/s and with this 4mb i got 4mb/s. Its really funny for me, we got broadband ages ago.......for 1mb/s and we were then upgraded to 2mb for free(ntl i think or telewest still) then virign to over now we went to 4mb, now we going to 10mb .

I did like that too. Always getting a free upgrade in speed every year.

    Preston has, apparently.

    Where's my upgrade?

As you can see, they really look like they know where they're going with this.

What about us lowly 2meg customers. Are we getting upgraded to 4meg at all?

Haven't heard anything concrete (just forums posts else where by seemingly reliable people) but I've read that upgrading 2mb customers isn't the focus of VM right now. When the 4mb customers have been upgraded (which is meant to be complete by the end of 2008) then the 2mb customers should come into focus for an upgrade. So as it stands, forget about an upgrade anytime soon; I'm not expecting one anyway. I'm pretty gutted because I'm on 2mb as well and am a bit peeved at the fact that we pay more in ratio for BB but get forgotten about all the time, but then I guess VM can't exactly push 2mb customers onto 4mb whilst the current 4mb customers are still paying for that service.

Hmm I'm in Nottingham right next to the student area... I'm sure the +150% rise in warez traffic will help stabilise the network here

Do we have to go through this every thread?

    VM do not traffic shape.
If you download too much between 4 and 9, they will lower your overall speed. They do not alter which type of data gets priority.
