firewalls which dont slow you down

Yeah a quickie question.. I'm in need of a new firewall virus protection software thingy. I've found many reviews for them. rating them on their abilities to find viruses, worms, trojans etc but I''ve so far not found comparison review which also shows how they affect the speed and responsiveness of ones computer..

In the past I've had Panda which was speedy enough, Norton which was speedy enough, but F-secure was s**t slow.. now my computer is no rocketship, so I need software which will not hamper my experience

I was thinking of Kapersky but will it slow me down. HELP

The best thing to do would be to download the 30 day Kaspersky trial from Here

That way you can see if it runs on your system, slows it down before spending the cash on the license for the year

Are you behind a NAT Router? If so, and you aren't particularly fussed about having an application aware firewall then I'd just stick Windows Firewall on (exactly as I do).

Alternatively, I'd do as Lee suggests, try the trial and see how you get on with it.

If you're behind a NAT router you don't need to run any firewall software, Windows built in or otherwise. It's pointless and wastes resources.

Kaspersky should do you ok but as the guys say ' try the months trial first'' it's not costing you anything.

Indeed, a decent router with nat/firewalling/stateful packet inspection is a great investment tbh.
