Anyone else having problems getting to the ms web site ?

The 504 error can appear if you are using a proxy server which is unable to reach the destination.
I think all AOL users are subject to a transparent proxy, for example.

The Microsoft site seems to be totally unreachable for me ?
I've tried ms.co.uk, ms.com, ms.net, a google/yahoo search link and links from other site's, nothing seems to work. However I can very happily get to the windows update site ok,
Im not on aol, and i've always been able to get to the ms home page on my current isp before.
One weird thing though, I can get to the ms research site & ms office web site, but I can't load the download center site or the security home page...

1. Its been hit by a MyDoom virus variant thingy. (same idea as what happened to SCO).
2. Source code has been leaked, so everyone is updating their windows update and security patches, so its probably being hit quite a lot.
Basically thats it I think.

Microsoft set up an alternative site in case the MyDoom.B variant should take down the site, and a secure version as well for some reason? The MyDoom.B variant is supposed to continue till 1st March, but some (daft) people might have their system clocks set wrong.
