    NTL Upgraded speeds ?

We all know NTL can be rather sh*t isp for bandwidth throttling, then only way i have found to get around this, is to open up multiple streams... anyways,

this morning to my shock and disbeleif I was downloading at 2.3mb/sec (i am on the 20mbit bb)
I was downloading from a gbit.uk server, and i know that early morning is the best time to download, but this has never happened before.

Anyone else notice any improvments ?

    Re: NTL Upgraded speeds ?

I get my full 20MB speeds all the time... Unless i am throttled down, inwhich i generally hit about 0.8mb/s

A friend of mine works as a tech at VM, and he said something like 85% of 20MB users never get the full bandwidth...

Luckily i am in that 15%, and have never ever had any problems.

Crazy Monkey, how much do you download? I know they cap-throttle their "high usage users", and the only way to get around this, is to open up multiple streams.

Tools - Ftp Rush & Azereus (if you really must use torrents lol)

    Re: NTL Upgraded speeds ?

Recently mine has got worse. Ever since i got 20Mb i always download at 2.22MB/s but recently this has gone down to anywhere between 1.80MB/s and 2.10MB/s

Im still more than happy with the speed as its such a reliable connection, but like everyone else the traffic throttling is the main PITA.

I hate the way the throttle lasts 5 hours no matter when you break the threshold, the throttling should be stopped at 9pm no matter what.

The new day time throttling is a right pain also, as i used to download most of my stuff on a Saturday afternoon, not anymore...

I use NNTP and multiple streams doesnt get around the throttling, i have 8 open streams to two different NNTP servers and as soon as i hit 3.5Gb download im throttled :-(
