    NTL stuff

Have justspoken to an NTL engineer who came to collect my set top box.

I have alwayas had faultless service through my NTL connection, right up to the point of trying to cancel (nother story)

I know other areas have had a nightmare with it.

    He said that:
NTL use subcontractors, icluding himself. No shock
Aylesbury, where I lived, was laid by Cable & Wireless, who spared no expense and did all the cabling fully digital and that kind of area is very stable and reliable. NTL inherited good hardware.
The areas of bad service (Locally to me, Luton for example) was laid by NTL themselves who didn't spend the money and used Analogue cabling for lots of areas.

So that small ditance between neighbouring towns (less than 20 miles) is the divide between chalk and cheese cable networks. And Cable & Wireless did a good job, it's NTL who brought them out, who cut costs.

    Interesting

Eurobell did this area of Kent, they have no provision for broadband. Anybody who wants BB around here has to have a BT line, even if they have cable.
