    BT broadband.

Moving into my new flat soon, was all set to get Be* broadband with its nice fast speeds and reportedly lax fair usage policy
However my flatmate pointed out that Bt vision ( offered only with BT broadband) is a good deal, and you get setanta sports too

Does anyone here use BT broadband, and could you tell me how the speeds/customer service/throttling is?

    Thanks.

    Re: BT broadband.

I'm with BT, at my house in Norwich, but also my parents are using them at home in Essex.

If I'm honest, even with the temptation of BT Vision, I'd go for Be.

At my parents house, the speeds aren't bad - 7.5 meg, but in norwich is dire - with the BT homehub I was getting 1.8, with a Netgear box 2.4. This is out of an 8mb line, albeit with a fair distance from the exchange. What is worse though, is that at peak time I don't even get 1mb outta it

    Re: BT broadband.

    BT or BE?

BE everyday of the week, you cant even trust BT to get your name and address write, they are possibly the worst company ive ever had to deal with, both line wise, and especially customer service wise.

BE broadband, quick stable, and a constant connection, ok it might be slightly more, but you really do get what you pay for.

    Re: BT broadband.

Used to have BT and switched to O2 (uses same infrastructre as BE)
Four-fold increase in speed with a 75% reduction in cost.
    Was a no brainer.

    Re: BT broadband.

BT throttle all protocols every evening regardless of use. I just dumped them as i'm fed up of getting 800k+ in the day and <70k at night. With my new provider my speeds are 'suddenly' the same 24/7.

edit: oh - and I got a letter from BT asking if i wanted to cancel the ISP transfer 1 day AFTER it had happened, telling me that i needed to contact them 24hours BEFORE it was supposed to happen if I wanted to cancel.
    Figure that out.

    Re: BT broadband.

    O2/Be all the way...

Luckily I am close to the exchange (150M) so I pay for 16Mb and get 16Mb. Customer service is spot on, although my first O2 Wireless box was dead, they sent out a new one and sent a jiffy bag for freepost return of the old one.

Even phoned them at 2am and they sounded happy (well, as happy as you can be at 2am)

I cannot stress how bad BT are for everything, my line was meant to be activated on a Monday, it took until the following Tuesday for them to get it sorted saying there was a fault on the line, when they hadn't actually activated it.

Seconded... i am considering paying my way out of the BT contract as its utterly stupid the fact that at 6.30 on the dot, the speed drops down to half a meg... makes streaming content like iplayer unusable and i struggle to even listen to streamcast radio and browse the web at the same time...

have problems with every Broadband supplier where we are, and as we are stuck with BT we actually get less problems than most....
We have a "new" Hub 2.0 and it's actually a fairly decent router!
