Recommend me a new router please!

    Hi,

I currently have a Netgear WNR854T. When I first got it, it was a dodgy router and had constant wireless issues, so I sent it back and got a replacement.

It was working perfectly for about a week and then I got the same disconnection problem and won't allow connections requiring a router restart this happens about once or twice a week. Also, sluggish network performance is quite annoying. If someone downstairs is on the laptop watching live streaming video or skype or even browsing the internet, then my PC upstairs will have slower internet and sometimes my ingame ping on games can spike quite high.

I have tried everything to alleviate these problems but with no avail. I have tried my PC being plugged directly into a gigabit port, 2 gigabit ports, and also the wireless.

I am stumped on which router offers best features and speed for my money. I was looking at the D-Link DIR-655 but have read that it is quite sluggish.

I was thinking along the lines of: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143171

Any recommendations will be very much appreciated.

Nevermind, I have searched quite a few sites and found it to be the router I am looking for.

Treat yourself to a nice cisco 877w? Config might be out of your comfort zone.

£400 ish new, but pop up for 125-150 on ebay.

Did you find the new one you got any improvement? I have similar issues with ping when others are on - was thinking of getting a router with QoS although ISP does not support it (but I guess the packets leaving the house will be prioritised so might make some difference). Plus me signal is a bit weak in this room - whats the signal like with the WNR3500?

    Taken from the ebuyer website...

Digital Signaling Protocol ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+

    As far as I know if a 'ADSL' router says 24mbps then it's ADSL2+, 16mbps it's ADSL2 and 8mbps it's ADSL1.
