    BT Opts out of Phorm

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8135850.stm

I'm sure many people will be glad about this - it's the main reason I switched to O2 when I got the chance, because it seemed from all intents and purposes, that they were going to actually take it up. I expect quite a few other people who switched from BT did so thinking the same thing.

    BT on Phorm

I guess Christmas has come early for Santa ... BT have reportedly decided to ditch Phorm. One less reason for them to exists now

    More here
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

    Re: BT on Phorm

Well BT seem a bit guarded as to whether they're ditching it or just putting it on hold.

Personally, I hope this is terminal for Phorm (Webwise) as I detest the concept. But I have to wonder ..... even of this is curtains for Phorm (and a victory for consumer power if it is), how long will it be before the basic concept rears it's head again in a similar but perhaps marginally different form (excuse the pun ).

When there's revenue in for it companies to advertise at people, and revenue in it for ISPs from companies that want to advertise at people, the incentive is huge. I can't help but think that it's pretty inevitable we'll end up with something like this, though perhaps in a slightly less obnoxious form. I don't think they (with "they" being industry) will give up easily. It'll slip back in later in a modified form. Unfortunately.

Seems that TalkTalk won't play if BT doesn't.

With luck, Phorm will phold and all the greedy abstrads that put money in will lose the lot.

I've not followed the whole Phorm story much but I very much agree with this sentiment.
