    home networking

    I am running 2 pcs with xp home and 1 laptop with vista. all are hard wired to my hub. i can access the to tremote computers from my pc but when i try to access files on my pc from the other 2 i get the message "acess denied, see administrator for permission" and the error code 0x80070005.
    My pc has been set up for file sharing. What am i doing wrong or what am i not doing?

    1. Please check firewall.
    2. Please check the anti-virus software.
    3. Please ping the IP of the target pc, and check if the reply can be received.

    do you have the same account names / Passwords setup on all PCs?

    If not, that could be your problem.

    Also worth checking that they're in the same workgroup, as the default changes between XP and Vista from MSHOME to WORKGROUP

    I'm assuming its the laptop you cant access from the xp pc's?

    Have you double checked you havent got 'password protected sharing' enabled on the vista pc.

    To check, open the 'Network and Sharing Centre' - see series of green lights.

    You want Network Discovery + File Sharing - Green

    Password protected sharing - Disabled
