    Website HELP PLEASE

i have recently been asked to make a website for my brothers company, i have little to no experience with making websites but my brother was insistent that i give it a go. I have made the website in HTML with the aid of KompoZer and have all the FTP details I need, I also have a FTP client FileZilla. I have no problems accessing the URL web-space and had little to no problems uploading everything. the problem I have is that I uploaded to the wrong directory and when deleting from that directory I have inadvertently deleted one of the pre folders already on the page, there were two folders named Log, Public and a third icon that i cant remember the name of, this had an icon like a chain and had file type "link" (not sure what that is. the folders I have deleted were the public folder and the "link" type file. i have tried recreating the public folder and uploading the website files to this to no prevail and i simply get the 404 error when trying to publicly view the page. any advice at all would be greatly appreciate. thanks in advance.

if you have deleted public then you will need to contact the host to have this setup again, you should not be able to delete the public folder though.

Kittens, I found myself in a similar situation to your own recently. Have you considered trying a Content Management package like Joomla? I found it simplified the process a bit

Thanks for the reply guys. in the end i remembered the exact sub directory, it was something that makes me blush to think i did not think of it before, a capital letter. i accidental and unknowingly put a capital in there and so the directory was not the same and so was not recognised. again thank you for your help

Yeah, linux'll do that to you if you're used to windows

I used to spend hours shouting at NWN mod writers who used capitals in their hak file names but not in their module settings...
