Help with connection sharing

Can you ping other machines?
Can you access Net by IP only? Eg. Http://212.58.224.126

I can ping them when I manualy set the IP's yea, just ordered a router actialy so hopefully that will sort me out, im just wanting to know why the network has gone tits up in case anything simalar comes up in the future.

Ive ordered this router, good choice?

If you can ping the machines, then your networks up - Sounds more like ICS isn't routing.
Can you ping external sites? BBC is the one I normally test.
If you can't ping externally then ICS has probably gone belly up.

Router is a good idea, can't comment as to whether its a good un though - never used a netgear.
