    Unstable connection

    Hello all

I'm currently with O2 ('Access' package, DSLmax I believe?) and have been since I moved in at the start of 2009. I'm c. 2.5km from the exchange.

The connection was pretty slow and unstable to begin with, but after a few weeks and replacing the provided router with a Netgear DG834GT (running DG Team firmware 0848) thing stabilised a little.

Over the past 12 months, O2 have sent a few mass-emails apologising for the service and outlining their plans. These weren't specific to me, but I think just a general message to all Access customers.

Anyway, speeds have also slowly increased. I was originally syncing at around 3.5mb, and this evening I've hit just over 5.0mb downstream.

With these increases, my connection has become more and more unstable. This is especially noticeable at peak times.

I can't make sense of SNR Margins or attenuation figures, but can someone tell me if there is something particularly bad with these?

I've seen guides on using the test socket, but before I pull out the cabinet in front of it which will be a nightmare, I'd appreciation clarification if there is something horridly wrong with the figures above.

    Ta!

    Re: Unstable connection

Can you define 'unstable' a little more. Does the router lose sync? or something else

First port of call should always be your line filters, if you have a spare, swap them out etc.
