    O2/Be network congestion

    Hi,

I am looking to switch to a 20/24meg LLU as my 8meg standard connection is now getting half a meg meaning i cant even watch a youtube video. Hopefully i can get some extra speed and save some money too!

However, blaming my current poor speeds on congestion, I am quite alarmed to see that O2 seems to have big congestion problems:

Are they still the best bet or is another LLU a better bet, remember Ill probably end up on a 12month contract :/

    Cheers, Neil

I am really happy with O2. Sign up using one of the cashbaack sites and your first year should cost peanuts.

Cashbak will be paid, don't worry. It works out £20 for a year's broadband, not bad

    Re: O2/Be network congestion

I have had O2 broadband for about 9 months now, and while it started out really very speedy, it has become noticeably slower at peak times now over the last couple of months or so. I think the O2/Be network is becoming too congested and they cannot keep up with demand. I may have to look for another provider yet again if it doesn't improve...

O2/Be are not spending the money on the broadband network. Same for the mobile 2G/3G. Both have become very CRAP over the last 12 to 18 months. It won`t change how ever many lies they tell in the media system. Just take your custum else where.

    Re: O2/Be network congestion

I've never found any shaping or throttling with O2, sometimes my usenet connection slows down, but it always ceilings when I add another server to the download, so that's probably just astraweb.

    Re: O2/Be network congestion

I've been using BE for a few years now and it was excellant at the beginning but I think when O2 bought them that was the time when it got slower and slower... Recently I've been contemplating whether to switch or not too, but haven't decided yet cause apart from this they've been great tbh!

    Re: O2/Be network congestion

My O2 connection here is generally good, but unfortunately it is quite variable. It ranges between 3Mbps on a bad day to 11Mbps on a good day...very strange.
