    Port Forwarding trouble

    Hello,

I'm having trouble (I think) with port forwarding... I've "allowed exceptions" with my Windows Vista firewall, and I've also added exceptions to my router... I don't have any other firewall service besides these two.

However, even though I've added exceptions for a gaming port (World of Warcraft port 6112) it still says the following whenever I test if it's open or not:

Error: I could not see your service on #.#.#.# on port (6112)
    Reason: Connection timed out

I thought if I opened ports that it would improve my gameplay by reducing latency and improving response time, which is why I'm bothering with it.

Does anyone know anything about this and can offer me some advice?

My router is the following: http://portforward.com/english/route...585v7index.htm

    Thank you

opening ports does not improve latency or gameplay, it simply allows you to connect to a server you could not connect to or kept getting kicked off for timeouts.

So I can remove all exceptions and block all ports and it will be the same?

    Thanks

    Re: Port Forwarding trouble

block all the ports and you wont be able to post here or play any online games. windows firewall on automatice will work fine. if it wants to connect it will ask for the game exe to be allowed, it will then let it use any port it asks for.
