    Virgin Media 100Mbps broadband

£45 a month if its the onoly service you have from VM, if you have TV its £35.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-11627507

It only has 10Mbps upload though so still not quite good enough plus its Virgin Media so thats a down side as well.

Note that neither this or the 50MB are traffic managed for downloads(i.e. no throttling when you max it out)

From what I can make out when 100mb lines land they will traffic shape the 50mb lines! Saying that though, since I've been with them from 1999 to the present, never had a major issue with the service, only issue being the crap call centre when your modem dies and they spend 2+ weeks telling you its your PC's problem, or you aren't using it right despite telling them that modem is dead and quoting error codes from the modems admin logs.

Even if that is true, they'll just oversubscribe it, and voila! user based throttling. You'll probably end up with a 10Mbps line in the end.

    Implying 10MB/s isn't fast ?

It is a better down/up ratio than ADSL though.

    I get 14mbit down and 700kbit up, which is 20:1. 100mbit cable is 10:1

I did, but we all know that the speeds are megabits and not megabytes even if the casing is wrong

    Re: Virgin Media 100Mbps broadband

i dunno why ur all so sceptical...

since ive been with VM (since it was telewest - back when 512kb was the fastest cable connection) I've always got what was advertised...

currently got 50mb connection and never had any problems with speed... (went to it because there is no throttling)

just hoping that they'll upgrade me to 100mbps for no extra cost... £35 per month sounds about what im paying at the minute...

No problem with them personally and my service has been top notch since we've had it.

Just seems to be a lot of stick for their CS.

I've been on 50Mbps pretty much from day 1 and NEVER had any problems.

    Top service.

Up to 50 = 49.5Mbps in my case so can't complain either.

Do we know if offer on the table applies to existing customers?
