Two internet routers at the same time

Is it possible to run a BELKIN N300 and a D-Link adsl2+ at the same time on one phone line? The belkin is wired to my PC and my laptop is using the wireless feature on the BELKIN. I was hoping to wire my PS3 up to the D-Link modem at the same time because it seems to be much more compatible (ping wise).

    HELP!

If one is a cable modem then you could plug the WAN port of that into an LAN port on the ADSL one. You may have some problems with NAT but we can sort that if it happens.

Only one device can be plugged in to the *phone* line.

Multiple devices can be plugged in to the same *network* (not phone line), as long as the IP addresses are different, and there must only be one DHCP server active. Of course, any devices with a static IP address must have an appropriate unique IP address on the same subnet - the most common ranges for home users are 192.168.1.x and 192.168.0.x

Do you have any recommendations for buying a new router that is designed to work well with the ps3? I have read forums and heard that d-link is the best. That’s the main reason I want the internet for.

I am not sure what you want to do here? Do you simply want to use the Belkin as a wireless router and the D-Link as the router attached to the internet then pass any traffic from the wireless to the internet via the D-Link?

Just try using wired connections for everything, wireless is often a poor idea for gaming except for maybe N. Even a super cheap router should add next to no ping time to a wired connection, if you're getting noticeable lag I'd say it's probably a faulty router or a very poor design.

You might want to check uPnP is enabled on the router. If you know how to do it I'd advise using manual port forwarding over that but if not, uPnP.

Re: Two internet routers at the same time

I'm not sure there is a router "designed for the PS3". The PS3 is only a computer, with hardware and software optimised for PS3 games. It has an ethernet connection with aTCP/IP stack that is compatible with any router that uses TCP/IP.

As for routers - in the SOHO range, probably the Draytek 2710 series or the 2820 series. The 2820 gives a ferw more features, but for what you requitre the 2710n would be fine.

    The spec is here

    Ftfy

I'll bet there is one, somewhere. After alll, you can buy an £8 PS3 Wireless Controller Charger, commonly known as a "USB cable".

Annoyingly "designed for" generally means "we tested it with, so it works and we charge a premium because we know some of you are gullible".
