    ipad wifi connection problems

Well I've had an ipad for about a week and everything is great, but right now I wanna throw it through a window!

Hooked up to my wireless network fine, last night took it up stairs out of range of the wirless network and now when I try to join it asks for my password which I type (correctly) but it's unable to connect, tried everything but cant get it to connect!!!!!?????

My wireless is fine, can connect to it with my wifes laptop, I need to take the ipad to work to see if connects to my work connection (which it did fine last week)

    Well I'm out of ideas...

In all seriousness have you tried turning it off and on again? I had some issues with an old router and this was the only way to sort it. Try turning the wifi on the iPad off then on. If that doesn't work switch the iPad off and on.

    Re: ipad wifi connection problems

Thanks for replying, I have turned the router/ipad on/off various amounts of time, I reset network settings on ipad.
I took it to work this morning and it connected to my works wifi no problems, so the conflict is my router at home, not sure what to do? will try a full factory setting reset of the ipad.
I have read about people putting a hex code into the password when it asks for it on the ipad but i'm not sure of my routers (netgear) hex code?? will try and look into the hex code thing when I got more time.

    Re: ipad wifi connection problems

I don't think its the iPad, sounds more a router issue. I have read that certain routers and iPads are having issues. What model is your Netgear router? I had issues with my WNR3500 where it would just loose the connection on all wireless devices. I swapped to a Linksys one and it hasn't happened. Might be worth borrowing another router to see if the issue happens again or time to buy a new one!

    Re: ipad wifi connection problems

I agree with trying a new/ different router but only because that's what sorted out my iPad wireless issues.

I agree on checking the router side of things too; I could never get my (1st gen) iPad working with the main router at work (a Draytek, I can't remember which model) though it gets on fine with the Billion one that's since replaced it.

I seem to remember a particular chipset or two didn't like the iPad, though I've forgotten which one(s) and I'm not sure if it applies for the 2nd gen iPad too. I use a combination of an Airport Extreme and an Edimax repeater at home which the iPad seems fine with.

    Re: ipad wifi connection problems

Does your wireless router have an auto channel selection feature? Mine does and it plays havoc with my iPods wifi connection.
