    Connection problems (belkin router, hi-velocity)

    I've just moved house and set up broadband here with the same provider. Had some initial problems connecting with the new username but that was apparently sorted and i went online. Once i have the connection running it seemed ok, but i needed to disconnect for a bit - and now i can't get back on. It doesn't help that hi-velocity's support on weekends is lacking.

    I have been fiddling with my router so much that i no longer remember whats right and whats wrong - could you guys post the settings you have (not username and password obviously) - like encapsulation, any numbers that you use and any other settings, particularly on Belkin f5d7633-4 routers. Any other ideas also welcome.

    I have tried moving wires away from the router and turning off the dect phone, but so far no luck.

    Am writing this over the neighbours wireless lol. Not even sure which neighbour's it is.

    P.S. also post your
    noise margin: 15.6 down 28 up,
    output power: 19.8 down 11.8 up and
    attenuation values: 24 down 14.5 up

    I think that it depends on your isp, with things like MTU etc.

    what isp are you on?

    VPI = 0
    VCI = 38
    VC based multiplexing
    PPPoA
    MTU = 1458. You may find other values work better for you, but 1458 worked teh best when I was using Zen ADSL.

    When you can't get online, what does the web management of the router say? Does it also think you're disconnected? MTU settings won't affect the router being able to authenticate to the radius server but it could give you strange problems when browsing.

    it says no connection and the connection light on the router is red (the line light is green though)

    Just spoke to support again.

    Apparently it helps to have my username in the database of logins... Who woulda thunk it... Turns out they had an outage and some accounts got nuked. But as I wasn't able to get through to support on weekend there wasn't much i could do about that. Doh.

    It's working now though. Yay!

    I can see why that might have been a problem

    Glad it's all sorted now
