    BT rant

    Hello,
for at least 6 months now ive been having problems with bt broadband.
So far ive had three engineers visit and have tried three different bt routers and 2 third party routers.
The first engineer found interference with the extension wiring so fitted a new master socket and filtered faceplate.

then when the second and third engineers visited they couldn't find anything wrong at the time. BT have run multiple line tests before sending engineers and they always find a problem with the line.

Im am getting fed up with having random disconnections.

how does it sound when you are on the phone?

Can you get your SNR ratio out of your router status page and post it up.

Is it random or is when it rains, or when its hot or on a Sunday etc

    Re: BT rant

    those stats look fine.

If you are getting noise on the line when you use the phone then there is a line fault and this will cause all sorts of problems for your ADSL.

    Hello MaddAussie,

my main machine uses both wireless and wired.

it doesnt make any difference thou because i always check the router to check internet status and everytime the router reports internet disconnected.

    Re: BT rant

I had a problem with random disconnections with talk talk, had the engineer visit, he didnt do much, just buggered around doing speed tests for 2 hours. Nothing wrong with the line, but what it turned out to be was the router was set to disconnect when idle.

Not sure what counts as idle but when it would disconnect even when doing stuff, turned off the disconnect when idle and some other auto disconnect thing in the router settings and havent been dc'ed once yet, and that was 6 months ago.

    Regards
    Jon

    Re: BT rant

If you are getting intermittent crackles on the line, report that to whover your voice service provider is. (If it is BT, then to them - fixing that will probably improve the ADSL performance. Stress that it is intermittent.
