And if I ever get the rank piece of crap that D-Link's tech weeble assured me would work as a repeater with a DSL604+ working, I'll tell you...

    D-Link stuff is pretty bad.

With networking kit, especially wireless, you get what you pay for, and going for a good brand is a good start.

It just has to be pointing in the right direction. If you point it toward the wall roughly at your receiver then you will get a stonger signal.

Hmm, I've always found Dlink wireless stuff good, especially when it comes to range. Only tried their 11b products, but I live in a 3 storey 5 bed victorian terrace (thick walls!) and the AP is in the centre of the house. Full signal anywhere inside, and can go ~50m outside the house too... that's using all dlink gear with stock antennae, so no problems here.

nichomach - I use the DWL-700AP, which is just an access point but works a repeater flawlessly. something in the DSL range is a router right? if you're using the router side as well I'm doubting you'll ever get a repeater going on it!

Setup is a DSL604+ ADSL wireless router; DLink advised me that a DWL-900AP+ access point would work in repeater mode with it. What can I tell you; they lied

got the same problem as you nichomach, the DSL604+ Wireless really is quite awful, it can't even make it through the window in the room without degrading the signal down to 60% :S

I might just get a cheap AP and link it in via cable in the loft, it's gotta provide a better signal than this £$%$% thing lol

Hmmm...the poor signal strength of the 604+ was why I initially got the 900AP+ to act as a repeater (fixed antennae on the 604+, otherwise I'd have just installed a couple of high gain antennae); and the daft thing is it DOES boost the signal, it even joins the right SSID network name, it just doesn't pass any frigging traffic...

Ah well. Boss has asked me to just chuck the D-Link kit and find something that works

And guess whose network kit I won't be buying in future...

That's possibly my next move if this router gives me any more problems..

    What!??!

I have the DWL-900AP+ and it really sucks. My house is about 15*15 meters 2 floors, and it dosen't cover it. We dont have any thick walls. If I go upstairs (straight above the AP) i have about half signal strenght, and on the other side of the house, not a chance. And outside, don't even think about it.

And I sent it on RMA, and they said : "The product didn't contain any faults". Umm?? I don't think so, because it has worked fine when I bought it. When I just have bought it I could surf outside in the garden and surf while sitting by the diningtable, which isn't possible right now.

    Suggestions?
