ADSL wireless routing - bandwidth limiting?

    Hi guys
Onto the second stage of my upgrade from ISDN (shudder) to ADSL.

We're definitely going to go with a wireless ADSL router (probably g) but I really need something that can limit the bandwidth per PC.

Both me and my dad do the occasional bit of gaming (well, he's hardcore, I'm not) and we both download/browse.

Basically if I'm downloading a large file and he's gaming I don't want to take up all the bandwidth so his ping sky-rockets. Can most ADSL modems/routers do this or do I need to look for something more specific?

    Thanks

The broadband will be the limiter, not the wireless network.

No. Get a G wireless network and hook it up. Should be ok really. Me and my bro did the same thing with a b network and 512 broadband and it only became unplayable when the filesharing program he was using was downloading 3 or 4 things at once.

You want to cap the download speeds, this can be done with most p2p programs there are soft bandwidth throttles available as well but they're not that good.

TBH capping your download won't effect his ping that much, you'll just be capping bandwidth not speed.

Yeah but if I'm downloading at full whack then it'll choke badly and and be unplayable.

Guess I'll just have to make sure I use a download manager or something. Shame there's no hardware capping available.
