Hi there. I think I'm soooooooo close with this, but I can't quite finish it off. Like all things I try, it never quite works flawlessly first time. All advice appreciated
System specs:
Master:
XP3200
WinXP Home SP1
Pipex ADSL - USB Fujistu modem
Bridged connections:
1394 connection
LAN on Compaq NC3120 Fast Ethernet NIC (I think it's plugged into this one)
Client:
XP1600
WinXP Home SP1
LAN connection over Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC
The plan is to share the internet across the 2 PCs, with file and print sharing to come. The following screenshots should help illustrate the problem:
This is from the master PC, showing the client seems to be connecting ok.
This one's from the client PC, showing a successful ping to the BBC... It's got internet access...
This image should reinforce that, we can see the client PC detecting the gateway and receiving packets from the internet and the host PC...
But, as you've probably guessed, IE does not work. I'm running Sygate personal firewall on both machines, but even when I disable it I can't connect the client to the internet.
And the client can connect when I plug the modem directly into it.
I know a router would be easier, but I'm a bit strapped for cash atm and would really appreciate this working.
Thanks all
