Ive done it, takes about 5 mins to be fully upgraded, great stuff
Talking about the 1gb cap... Even game mods exceed the daily cap these days. I downloaded Point of Existence for BF Vietnam, and I found to my horror it was 960mb!
I guess a lot of people are going to get buggered by this. But if you use P2P, simply stop all downloads, and do it one at a time. This reduces overhead, and means you are restricting yourself fairly easily.
New Sig on the Way...
well called NTL and they did it over the phone there and then for me, I have to say it was picked up before it rang, they have got much MUCH better of late....
m@
Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net
theres def no £25 charge yeah?
What happens if I reach my usage allowance?
Customers with the existing services or 2Mb & 3Mb (1GB per day)
Ntl reserves the right to contact customers who regularly exceed their daily usage allowance, where such excessive use impacts the quality of service for other ntl broadband customers.
Customers with the 1Mb service (3GB per month)
Ntl will be monitoring across the network to identify customers who routinely exceed their data allowance, but not enforcing this allowance until later in 2005.
Before that time, ntl will be deploying new capabilities that will allow each customer to view their usage levels. Thereafter, customers who exceed their data allowance in any given month will be given options, which may include, for example, the ability to:
* Upgrade to a tier of service with a higher usage limit
* Choose to be billed for any incremental usage above their limit
* Choose to use the service for the remainder of the month at a lower speed
* For further information on usage allowances please refer to ntl’s User Policy.
Hmm i dont know whether to upgrade or not.
this last week the wan traffic on my router is.
WAN down 7321707 Packets up 2637252 Packets
assuming a packet size of 1 KB then thats nearly 7 GB down in ones week.
I know that 1 KB is high whats a more realistic average? the thing is this last week although surfing a lot and downloading he odd 20 MB vid or prog not much gaming has been going on maybe olny several hours.

Hows this for an upgrade. zdnet bandwidth test.
http://specials.zdnet.co.uk/misc/band-test/
Your line speed:
57464.8 Kbps
7042.3 K bytes/sec
Does your Internet connection fly like an eagle or crawl like a tortoise? Is it just your imagination, or is your Internet connection slow today? Whether you're connecting over the work LAN, using a cable modem, an asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL), integrated services digital network (ISDN) connection, or just a plain old dial-up modem, the Bandwidth Speed Test will give you the answer.
To calculate your connect speed we need to send a large amount of data to your computer. This should take 0 to 0 seconds. Your computer has already started. When it's done, the results will be displayed in the box above and in the Speed Test Thermometer below.
Raw Data:
If you're just dying to see the raw data used to calculate your download speed, here it is:
* download start time: 1110314281324
* download end time: 1110314281395
* download time: 0.071
* download size in thousands of bytes: 500
* estimated line speed (K bits per second): 57464.8
* estimated line speed (K bytes per second): 7042.3
Speed Test Thermometer
Off the chart!
-------
this isnt the actual speed strangely if i scroll down past the test which says 730 Kbps
i find the same info but it give me this reading strange.... anyone else get something similar?
Kumagoro - is this the second (or greater) time you ran the test? If so it's probably cached in your browser...
hmmmn, i wonder what will happen for me.
i have the 750k line so should be upgraded to 2mbit but have the black pace box so will only get 1mbit till i ask for it to be changed........but being in a house of students we only pay £20 for a month not £25 i wonder if we get the upgrade and the 1gb daily allowance?
