These products were developed in America where houses very rarely have solid (ie. brick) walls.
Ok so what router should i get? I'll try and RMA this one, i'll find out when i bought it

    Then RMA it QUICK!!!!

They might only offer you a replacement. If they do that ask for a different router of similar value - have a look at some reviews to see which one is good.

They dont even offer replacement dabs say if you have it longer than 28 days they only forward it to the manufacturer, and then the manufacturer sorts it out.

Thats normal. Phone up Linksys and they will sort it out for you. You will have to send the router off to them and then they will send one back to you.

Make sure you have their UK number though!

Just ask for a router of similar value, or a refund. If they say no then they are not obeying the sales of goods act. I bought a dlink card that was incompatible with my motherboard for some reason and they replaced it with a different card of the same value. (I think it was a newer revision).

Dabs are pretty good, they should give you a full refund if you explain to them that you cannot get a decent signal from client to access point because of your house.

    So this one?

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=82066

Reviews arent stellar on there, but with something like wi-fi it could be as much user error.

i find it strange that you need to restart them every month. my dlink one never needs to be reset unless i have been fannying around with it and mess it up.

If you want to get a new one reasonably cheap goto your local PC world and go to the cheap returns place they have loads of wifi routers on the cheap. I saw an £80 belkin 125 Mbps one for £45 hadnt been opened just returned. There were others different price but same model it seems very inconsistant price wise so look at all of them.

So test it with wires if you can, stress test it, download a big file using a download manager like flashget using as many connections as possible and see if the same thing happens

Or just dont use BitTorrent, evil software that should be burned in hell forever

(ok so that last bit was an anti bitTorrent flame, but you should test it with wires first anyway)
I called up Linksys, the guy couldnt really tell what it was, he seemed lost.

I mentioned the connections limit, he said that would make sense, he said the router handles around 500 wireless connections. So he suggested limiting my p2p app connections in their settings.

He did say I had a 3year warranty and if the problem comes back after i try all that then he'll have to replace it
