theres not really much security on most of the actual live floors, just really locks on the cab doors.
    It is Inevitable.....

A few phone calls later, some ID, proof's of who I work for etc, and Jiff guiding me.

Happened on Wed. I have driven past it every day for months not knowing it was there. It's an ex US Bank building, with laser security perimiter and 4 main power feeds from different grids in Milton Keynes.

And I am impressed! Big time
It's really impressive that place... HOpe you said hello to my baby RAQ's!

I've been carried out of a data center on a stretcher, into an ambulance with a porta heart monitor on me.

Telehouse is my favourate in the UK (but i've only been too 2 redbuds sites, telehouse and this one in manchester), they have pods (think MI5) that you get in close behind u, hurting the laptop u've got on ur back. Redbus security is a joke if anyone wants to see a datacenter grab a ladder and goto docklands

The fun thing is if they have CHM fire supression gas, if you want to know how fast your collegues can move, trigger that.

i'm in cornwall right now, don't slag off the DLR, i've had 3 buses break down on me on just one journey, and its too far to get a taxi, and been sober is no fun

The dlr is great, appart from the smell, those poor people who live to the east, and the token chinease person you always get who stands in the doors as they try to close.

There's nothing functionaly wrong with the dlr, it works, but the trains are teeny, awkward, the stations always seem to involve several hours of walking and worst of all... if you go to the docklands on a saturday.... everythings closed.

I can imagine it, but to actually see one would be quite cool, with all the security and power e.t.c.

P.S. Is there a hum of fans or electrics
Meh, I hated our old data centre. Espesh when the air-con went.

Seriously though - it's just a bunch of computers and an unfeasibly large amount of fans etc - if you spend too much time in one you WILL get a headache.

Last job working for a certain large company in the finance sector, the building we were in was 90% datacentre before they moved it all up north & it had loads of automated tape systems & terabytes of data being accessed 24x7

It used some high bandwidth though with four 45mbit pipes at 85% capacity....

In case of a fire, get out before the oxygen is sucked out of the room :S

    What sorta thing you got?

I must admit i'm impressed by the speed of the forums server, i've got very fed up with a certain board since they've gone commercial, 3 banner adds on the forum page, and the page been slow still pisses me off. (but please don't ever ad banner adds, i don't mind spending 2 hours solving someones problem with a PIC or something, but then for someone to make money of my donation to help someone really drives me nuts.

But anyway my question which DC is it your at?
