If you've got the money, Zyxel or Cisco. By far the best.

Linksys is a bit rough round the edges, its essientally diet cisco.

SMC make very reliable kit, i had them RMA a 3.5year old AP with no problems at all, most excelent customer service with a 12 year old managed switch too.

Another vote for the 834G/GT. Easy setup, no messing about with ports for games and upgradable to ADSL2.

I use the wireless frequently and its 100% stable for me, file transfers, vnc and games no problems at all.

Another vote for the Netgear routers... very simple to setup (wizard driven or you can manually setup)... gives you on screen explanation of each settings...

As of 31st August Kcorp have removed their (previously excellent) technical support. THere is NOW nothing it seems. Read the website and if that doesn't solve your problems, you're looking for a solution yourself! Not great and hardly likely to enduce new customers.

Real shame as it was nice to see an independent product do so well. Plus, apart from a duff power supply, mine (KLG router and network cards) have run like a dream.

/me dons his SpeedTouch pimp hat

    SpeedTouch 546 for a 4 port wired adsl modem/router

    or

    SpeedTouch 580i for a 4 port wired/wireless adsl modem/router

ps there is a 585 model that is rare they only difference is that the 585 has content filtering options on it

Both these models are adsl2 and adsl2+ compaitble out the box, both are very easy to set up, both are unpnp.

never had any issue with the 530 that i had before and the only reason it's been replaced is that after 2+ years it's gave up the ghost

at the moment am testing a 580 model but in a few days i have a 610 on it's way which is not a consumer grade router it's ment for sohos and sme's but it will give me a chance to see if theres any thing that i been missing out on.....

btw the 580 is about 58 quid new an the 610 is over 200 quid ( i got it for 32 quid on ebay )

pps for thoese that say up and running in 20 mins how does 5 mins or less sound, it is simpley a point and click and every things is runing.

    My experiences are:-

Linksys WAG54 v2 (v2 has different internals not just firmware): Generally reliable, occasionally drops a 24/7 connection. 4/5

Netgear 834+635 (or whatever they're called) - both are very patchy. cheap though and got it a bundle PCI card free. 2/5

Belkin Pre-N Router + Linksys ADSL2 modem: fine. both very simple to setup 4/5

Speedtouch 330: this is just an ADSL modem, not the quickest but its always worked fine with no problems. 4/5

Netgear routers seem to be very reliable, not the cheapest though. Definitely worth reading all the reviews on Ebuyer
