    Recommend me an ADSL modem/router

I want to replace my D-Link DSL-504. I would preferably like it with wireless. It needs to be able to hack at least 4mb down and 768kb up as I don't think my current unit does this.

I've been looking at the Linksys WAG54G and WAG54GX2 but cannot find any information on the Linksys site that tells what the max up and down speeds it can take. I've also seen the D-Link DSL-G624M which looks like it will do the job, it says it's ADSL2/2+, will this still work with standard ADSL?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Thanks peterb, but I was thinking a max of £100 so £937.37 is a little out of reach ;o)

    http://wireless.gumph.org/content/4/...g-insides.html

Another site had two reviews - one praised it to the skies - the other condemned it out of hand! There must be thousands of these in service - all working happily - and most do waht they say on the box - so if the feature set matches what you want, it will do the job - and I could say the same about the Netgear - another capable router, as are the Alcatel Speedtouch. Some swear that the Draytek Vigor is the gold standard for home (and SOHO) ADSL routers - but again, if you dig hard enough, you will find a criticism of one - somewhere. Personally when I get the dosh, and it is available in this country, I will go for a Draytek 2800vg.

You might find this useful.. http://www.dslguide.org/reviews/

Probably not enough stock of that one.... I know the offers team generally avoid ones that are low in stock.

(Got the DLink 904 myself... the wireless one with the USB dongle... quite a good beasty...)

I have WAG354G and WAG54G....both are good imo.
And if you dont like it the firmware is open source, so re-write it

There is quite a lot of open source software for the Linksys devices (and not just the routers!). Many of these routers use embedded linux as the OS!

I've got a Draytek Vigor 2600G, lovely router and the interface works fine with firefox for me!

And theres so much stuff to play with! Expensive, but worth it imho, I had a linksys before and it often fell over, the Vigor has been faultless
