    That changes things. Completely.
The impresion I got here was that they had just announced the changes.
By continuing to use the service you signify an acceptance of those changes. That email had a link to their terms and conditions in full.
You cant carry on using their service, and then 3 months later decide that you dont like the changes and so you want out of the contract
    Its too late.

Secondly, to enter into a contract you do not have to sign anything. Usually paying for it signifies the consumers acceptance of any contract/terms and conditions they may have (provided they are legal)
The acceptance of the contract on the sellers part is when either they accept the money or they communicate acceptance to you in some other way.
Why has everyone waited for months before doing anything about this?
Indeed, these changes happened when i was still on Plus.net, I didnt like the idea of it so after on one month of very heavy usage, having to avoid using the internet for any thing else but surfing, incase i broke the cap i decided i had enough, got my mac code and left to join a much better ISP

But tbh you guys have left it quite late unless this is a new email and we are getting the wrong end of the stick?

Noit is a new email and I did read the inital email when it was sent, but the summary did not state that my service was capped - did you see the T&C's, myself probably like lots of others in my niaevity did not read all of that and still presumed from the email I was uncapped. I now can only download 30GB during their peak times - agin I feel this should have been highlighted better at the time

It has taught me to always read ALL the T&C's, however I don't feel I should have to put up with this.

Funnily enough my last message to them, the one in the link, I did not get a quick reply but only...... investigating HA!

If it comes to it I will pay however I will make what time I have left with them as complicated as possible
    Anyone seen my opteron?

    On this page

    https://www.plus.net/info2/compare/m...html#bandwidth

    There is this

    i. Data Transfer Quota - unlike some other ISP's, we set no limit to the total amount of data passing between your equipment, whether modem or router, and our network, in any 24 hour period.
Does this not sound like unlimited.

    there is also this page

    https://www.plus.net/info2/compare/c...8e2d36c80d1bf2

which has unlimited under the dsl column - twice.

Its very easy to quote parts out of context to make it sound like something totally different
The unlimited mentioned in the second URL is for the maximum time online per month. That is obvious.

Where did you get the first URL from?

The only terms and conditions that are relevant are the ones they bring to your attention. Looking through their site for any occurances fo the word "unlimited" will not help your case at all.

Hate to revive this, but did anyone get out of the deffered activation fees? The GF signed up for plusnet in september last year (monthly, unlimited) and as its a stdent house has just found out that to cancel they need to pay the 'deferred activation fee'. Needless to say shes not too chuffed, and since it was my reccomendation, not too chuffed with me either.

She told the guy on the phone when it was bought that it would be cancelled after nine months, which he assured her there would be no charge for. So, anyone got any ideas? The fees seem pretty ludicrous, in that you have to be a customer for 5 years before they'll let you cancel for free.

THey did actually pay an activation fee, does that actually h ave any bearing on the situation?

Hope someone can save my ass.

If they've already paid the activation charge for the connection, then surely PlusNet are trying to charge them twice. "Deferred activation fee", as I understand it, is for those people that go for the "with free connection and modem" sort of deals.

it wasnt a huge activation fee though, 12.50 or something, however they were led to belive that they paid that fee in order to have the luxury of being able to cancel with no comeback

Wow i didnt realise about any of this!!! My dad pays for the BB so i havent seen any letters or anything but apparently we now have a 10gb/month useage (even though it says 10gb for Broadband Plus, 25gb for the lowest premier, which we have...)

It says first time you go over your limit your connection will be cut to 128kb/s. Well looks like we already went over it once.
2nd time you do it, your connection will permenantley be cut to 128kb/s until you upgrade!!! Well with a week left until the new useage month starts, i have 760mb left....and i tend to use over a gig every week at least.......looks like ill have to seriously cut down on the net this week then, otherwise we will end up paying 22quid a month for 128kb/s connection :|

Wish id known all this when we signed up back in September.....

Please read about the new usage limitations, you now have 10GB at peak times (4PM - 12AM), anything over and your P2P then eventually your entire connection gets throttled. Although the throttling is done in stages.

Also, off peak usage now has no limits as of this months billing period.

Rabs, you say i have 10gb peak time....but the bar that goes from 0 - 10gb doesnt just count the 4pm-12am, it counts 8am-4pm too (ive just added it all up) So if i have 10gb just for peak time, why in the status bar is it all counting towards the 10gb mark?

I guess maybe this status bar is just showing total usage, rather than showing me what im not supposed to go over. I just assumed since the status bar is right there with 10gb written on, i wasent supposed to go above that.

I'm 3 months into my second year on plusNet and have opted to go monthly basis for past 3 months, if i cancel will i get charged too because technically i'm out of contract..?

Also aren't all ISP looking to introduce similar measures?

    power, corruption and plus.net

The thing to remember about plus.net is that if you say black is white they will claim it is grey.

Not only this, but plus.net are being legally correct - not morally.

I am waiting for the right excuse to break the contract.

I was talking to a cutomer service rep at tiscali who were shocked by what I mentioned about plusnets behaviour.

Hello mate, looks like you haven't reached your monthly billing date. Until which time you'll be on the old 15GB peak time (unthrottled) and 100GB total usage limits.

After your billing date your new graph should look like this: My PN Usage
