    bt yahoo mail settings

Just wondered if any of you were on bt yahoo broadband and if so what outlook settings are you using for email account, pop and smtp servers.

using mail.btinternet.com i can access the pop server therefore recieving emails but cannot send any outgoing emails due to the server "rejecting my login" hmmm strange seeing as its exactly the same as the pop account

    Anyone had the same trouble?

    Thanks

I have a hunch that bog standard bt broadband doesn't give you SMTP access

or you might have to set outlook to authenticate your SMTP session with your pop details.

have they just cut it then because i used to be able to connect to the smtp server and send mails just fine, maybe a case of ringing em up, what are the alternatives? sending via another smtp server? outlook is already set to authenticate with pop details

I have BT Boradband and they recently require authentication on theri SMTP server. When setting up the account, click "more settings" > "Outgoing server" > "My SMTP server requires authenticaiton" and leave it as the same login as incoming server. This worked for me!
