    Cheapest broadband for 2 months?

    Hi all,

My girlfriend is doing a project up in the outer Hebrides for 2 months, and wants to get the internet in a house she's renting (if it's OK with the Landlord, it probably will be), but since she's only there for 2 months she really doesn't want a 6 or 12 month contract.

Since she doesn't have any equipment beyond a laptop, and wouldn't have a clue how to install it herself, what do you reckon is the best package (2 months + installation + activation + broadband modem + and micro filters etc)?

Best I've come across so far seems to be the Virgin.net package which gives you (as far as I can tell) the modem, installation, activation etc for free, then £14.99 a month, then a £50 cancellation fee if cancelling before 12 months.

The only other one that seems to come close is the Zen 250 package, but I'm not clear if this includes installation etc, and is only 256K and not the 512 Virgin are doing. No £50 cancellation fee, but you have to buy the modem etc.

Anyone seen any other good deals, that would basically require her to pay less than £80 total and just let someone else bring the modem and connect it all up? Have I understood the Virgin.net option correctly?

    Cheers,

    Alex

    Try www.adslguide.org.

As for Virgin.net, their free adsl modem will also include 2 microfilters. Seriously, if your girlfriend can switch on a kettle, she can install the kit herself. When it comes to configuration she can always call up tech support to get them to walk her through it.

IDNet offer a nice package for £14.99

£40.00 for activation but only 30 day contracts so no hassle getting out after 2 months

only downside is that u only get 2Gb with the package but each Gb after that is £1 including vat which is good as u dont have to buy it in blocks.

    usb adsl modem for £20

    £8 del charge

so £69.99 initial outlay the 14.99 per month after

    good CS too

this is just my opinion as im in rented accomo at the mo too and didnt want to be tied down so this is the best ive found so far

    http://freeola.com/broadband/

they do a 3 month cheap trial cost from about £30 for 3 months, no connection fee etc.

i signed up with them last month no issues so far, i went with them just for the fact i did not want a 12 month contract, and most month by month contracters charge a £50 new connection fee.

they are a entanet reseller by the way.
